Lord Shiva Shivlinga

What is the meaning of Shivalinga or Shivlinga

The sacred symbol of Shivalinga represents the union of Shiva and Shakti. Shiva is the absolute consciousness and Shakti means energy.

Shiva is seated in the middle point of the eyebrows called Agyachakra and Shakti is seated in the Mooladhar chakra in every living being.

The Shivalinga symbol represents the most heightened state of a Yogi where the Shakti seated in the Mooladhar chakra reaches the Agyachakra and is united with Lord Shiva seated in the Agyachakra.

This is the state of God-realization or self-realization achieved rarely by the yogis. The sacred Shivalinga represents the highest state of alchemy, elixir, spirituality, and bliss.

At this state a yogi can perceive past, present, and future.

This state is the full blissful state when all the karmic debts dissolve and the yogi becomes a fully enlightened, fully awakened and conscious being as seen in the case of Saibaba, Ramkrishana Paramhans, and many more.

In fact, in this state ego, or “I” dissolves completely and the cosmic energy starts to play in place of the yogi or the person.

Shiva Lingam Dream Meaning

Shivalinga is the Union of Feminine and Masculine Energy

twin flame

Shivalinga is the union of feminine and masculine energy and both exist in you.

You whether a male, or a female, are the combinations of feminine energy and masculine energy.

Masculine energy is represented by Pingla Nadi which is hot in the feature. Feminine energy is represented by Ida which is cool in the feature.

When these nerves (Nadies) unite and meet in higher chakras, Samadhi occurs and the yogi comes out of the characteristic of the world called duality.

Hence, this union is entirely opposite to the union of male and female or boy and girl or man and woman because the union of man and woman is very temporary physical and also needs two persons.

The union of Shiva and Shakti is permanent and beyond the physical world. This is the union that occurs within a person in his or her masculine and feminine energies.

Why is Shivalinga or Shiva Lingam

Linga

Linga is the Sanskrit word. It represents features of an entity for which it belongs to such as feminine, ( Hindi -“Strilinga”), masculine (“Purlinga”), and neuter (“Napusankliga”).

Feminine or “Strilinga” refers to all the female elements or living beings present on the earth. “Purlinga” refers to all the males living beings on the earth.

Living being which carries the properties of both male and females are called “Napusankling” in Sanskrit.

Similarly, Shivalinga refers to cosmic power, Lord Shiva, a cosmic energy, or God that’s it.

According to “LingaPurana”, the whole universe is Linga itself. The whole universe is derived from the Linga and in the end, dissolves into the linga and again come out from the Linga.

The whole universe is Linga hence supreme power worshiped in the form of Linga or Shivalinga.

Why is Lingam in that shape

The shape of this universe is in the form of Linga and hence Shivalinga presents on the earth also in the form of Linga.

It is in the shape because this is the union of energies known as Ida and Pingala. Ida is feminine energy and Pingla is masculine energy.
